The new iPhones don't seem to have changed that much at first glance. But is that really true? All information, innovations and comparisons can be found in this blog! 

A lot has stayed the same, the design is very similar to last year's. The Ceramic Shield, Apple Pay, 5G, and MagSafe support are also available on the new iPhone 13.

The iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Mini have been launched with 128 GB of storage and the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max now come with up to 1 TB of storage.

The iPhone 13 Design 

Just as the iPhone 12 series, four iPhone 13 models have been introduced this year: The iPhone 13 Mini, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max. 

The iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Mini are available in five colors: Pink, Blue, Midnight, Starlight, Polarstern and Product RED. The striking difference with its predecessor, is the diagonal arrangement of the camera system. This is because the camera lenses are now bigger and better.

The iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max are available this year in the new Sierra Blue, in addition to the familiar colors Silver,  Gold, and Graphite. 

In general, the design isn't a big change from the iPhone 12. Although, the camera lenses and camera bump have increased in size and the front notch has been reduced by 20%. With a 6.7-inch (iPhone 13 Pro Max), 6.1-inch (iPhone 13 / iPhone 13 Pro) and 5.4-inch (iPhone 13 mini) Super Retina XDR display, the iPhone 13 series also comes very close to the iPhone 12 series. But the series 13 iPhones are a bit thicker (approx. 1/4mm) and heavier (approx. 20g) than their predecessors.

iPhone 13 Pro ProMotion 

Available on the iPhone 13 Pro and the iPhone 13 Pro Max!

The new iPhone 13 Pro models now allow frame rates of 120 frames per second, but that can consume a lot of the battery life. This is where ProMotion comes in play! ProMotion automatically adjusts the frame rate for what you are doing with your iPhone. That way, a refresh rate of 120 is only used when it's really needed.

iPhone 13 Chip 

All iPhone 13 models are equipped with the new A15 Bionic chip. It is better and faster than its predecessor (the A14 chip) and enables ProMotion. It also has up to 2.5% longer battery life and a 25% brighter outdoor display. The new 5-core GPU enables up to 50% faster graphic performance than any other smartphone chip. 

iPhone 13 Camera 

The camera systems of the iPhones have of course also been improved, the lenses and the punch are larger than with the predecessors. Image stabilizers have been added and new features have been added: Macro photography, an improved night mode, photography styles, the movie mode, and Smart HDR 4.

Smart HDR 4 now recognizes up to four different people on the new iPhones and individually optimizes contrast, exposure and skin tones so everyone looks great!

Macro photography iPhone 13 Pro

Available on iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max! 

The powerful autofocus system allows the ultra-wide angle camera to focus on subjects as close as 2cm. Switching to the ultra wide angle camera happens automatically when you are close enough to a subject. Macro videos are also possible, even in slow motion and time-lapse mode. 

Photography Styles iPhone 13

Available on iPhone 13 Mini, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max!

The new Photo Styles feature allows you to personalize your photos. The four templates are 'Vivid' for bright and brilliant images, 'Rich Contrast' for dark shadows and intense colours, 'Warm' for golden undertones and 'Cool' for blue undertones. You can customize the templates, so there are no limits to your creativity. These styles differ from conventional filters in that only the right ones are adjusted so that skin tones, for example, remain natural.

Night Mode iPhone 13 

Available on iPhone 13 Mini, iPhone 13, < span style="color: #ff6600;">iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max !

For the iPhone 13 Pro models, the night mode has been improved in each camera. The wide-angle camera captures up to 2.2 times more light and the ultra-wide-angle camera 92%. 

For iPhone 13 and 13 mini, Night Mode also detects low-light scenes and adjusts automatically. 

Movie Mode iPhone 13 - Cinematic Mode

The new cinema mode lets you record Hollywood movies on your iPhone, or at least that's the advertising promise. This means you can film with a shallow depth of field and make automatic and manual focus transitions between subjects. In addition, in this mode, the camera detects when a new subject approaches the frame and automatically focuses on it. Depth of field can also be adjusted after shooting, making it unique for smartphones.
The movie mode is available for the wide-angle, telephoto and TrueDepth cameras.

ProRes iPhone 13 Pro 

Available on iPhone 13 Pro (larger than 128 GB) and iPhone 13 Pro Max!

ProRes lets you record, edit, and deliver high-quality videos on the go with high color fidelity and low compression. This is unprecedented in a smartphone.

Is the iPhone 13 waterproof?

Like its predecessors, the iPhone 13 is not completely safe for water. All iPhones in this series have an IP68 rating. This means that the smartphones are fully protected against dust and can be immersed in water up to 6 meters deep for up to 30 minutes. 

iPhone 13 Battery

Like every year, Apple announced that this iPhone has a better battery than ever before. With up to 2.5 hours longer battery life than its predecessors. The battery is even minimally bigger in this phone. Unfortunately, despite the 20% smaller notch, you still can't see the battery level as a percentage. 

iPhone 13 and iOS 15

The iPhone 13 comes along with iOS 15. iOS 15 offers all kinds of innovations and improvements for your phone. iOS 15 is Apple's biggest iPhone update of the year. But what are these innovations and improvements? 

To start with, several apps are getting a new look, for example the Weather app. It will have a completely new design with a lot of clear information. But the Apple browser Safari is also being adjusted. The search bar moves down to give you more space on your pages and tab groups are added.
