MacBook Pro 2021 M1 Chip
The new MacBook Pros are available in two sizes, 14-inch and 16-inch. For both sizes, you can choose between two different chips. The new M1 Pro or the M1 Max. These are faster and improved versions of the previously released M1 model in late 2020. The M1 Max chip is the fastest version with a maximum storage bandwidth of 400 GB/s. While the M1 Pro reaches up to 200 GB/s. These new chips are the engine of the new MacBook Pro and feature a processor with up to 10 cores, a graphics processor with up to 32 cores, up to 64GB of main memory, ProRes accelerators and ground breaking power efficiency.
MacBook Pro 2021 Display
The MacBook Pro display follows in the footsteps of the iPad Pro and iPhone 13 Pro. Like the iPad Pro, the MacBook 2021 now has a thin display with minimal bezels. One of the advantages of the mini-LED is the better resolution of the screen. Because there are many more LED lights, the screen becomes much brighter. In addition, thanks to the improved backlighting, the screen can display higher contrasts and up to 1 billion colours. The resolution of the 14.2-inch model is 3024x1964 pixels and that of the 16.2-inch laptop is 3456x2234 pixels. Both MacBooks are ideal for video editing or graphic design. Like the iPhone 13 Pro, the MacBook now features ProMotion and a 120Hz display that adapts the refresh rate to the application.
The screen has thinner edges, they are 24% thinner on the sides and up to 60% thinner on the top. This results in a notch at the top centre of the screen which corresponds to the location of the webcam. The webcam has a resolution of 1080p, which is also an improvement, as the previous version had a resolution of 720p.
MacBook Pro 2021 New design
The MacBook Pro features a new design, which was already the case in 2016. The MacBook will be available in two colours: silver and space grey. The new design creates space for multiple ports, an HDMI port and an integrated SD card reader. This makes multi-port adapters obsolete or redundant. The MagSafe connector is also back. In fact, you can now charge your MacBook with a charging cable that magnetically attaches to your MacBook.
We're saying goodbye to the Touch Bar on MacBooks this year. Apple first introduced a MacBook Pro with Touch Bar in 2016, but it will be gone by 2021. This is because the Touch Bar has caused controversy among users. Apple will still retain the Touch ID on the top right of the keyboard.
MacBook Pro battery life
Like every year, the MacBook battery keeps getting better and better. This year, you'll be able to use your laptop for much longer without having to recharge it. With the 14-inch MacBook Pro, you can watch videos for 17 hours. That's 7 hours more than the previous MacBook Pro. With the 16-inch MacBook Pro, you can watch 21 hours of video without plugging it in.
