Nike Sport Loop
The woven sports strap is made of nylon which makes it a soft, breathable and lightweight strap. The Nike Sport Loop is designed for fitness and other purposes, with selected colours matched to Nike's running shoes. The Velcro closure allows you to put the strap on quickly and easily and has a snug fit for any wrist size. The tight loops on the skin offer soft cushioning, while allowing moisture to escape. At the back, the fastening loops are firmly anchored for superior durability.
In autumn 2022, Apple has added another series of new colours to the Apple Watch bands collection. For instance, Nike's woven sports band now has the text 'Just Do It' woven into it.
In spring 2022, Apple released new Apple Watch Pride straps together with Nike. Among them is a dark coloured one with the text 'pride' and woven into it that features the rainbow flag. They have also released a white version with the word 'pride' woven into it. These straps tie in well with the Nike Be True collection, this is aimed at supporting the LGBTQ+ community.
The Nike Sport Loop is available for both the 38mm / 40mm / 41mm Apple Watch models and the 42mm / 44mm / 45mm / 49mm Apple Watch models. It is important to note that the 38mm is compatible with the 41mm and the 42mm is compatible with the 49mm, however, the 41mm is not compatible with the 42mm.
Apple's special collections
Apple has released several collections such as the (RED) collection, Pride Edition and Black Unity, which support charities against AIDS and human rights organisations. For the Nike Sport Loop, Apple has also designed straps to match the Pride Collection. They feature a white strap with the colours of the rainbow woven into it. By buying these straps, you can show your love and support for the LGBTQA+ community.
On this page you can find more information about these special collections at SB Supply!
Nike Sport Loop Size
The Nike Sport Loop comes in both small and large case sizes. What Apple has fortunately done is that the 38mm is compatible with the 41mm and the 42mm is compatible with the 49mm, however, the 41mm is not compatible with the 42mm. This is where you need to be careful beforehand to make sure you have the right model. If you are not quite sure which size Apple Watch you have? The Nike Sport Loop is a one size band because it is infinitely adjustable. You can stick the strap anywhere because of the Velcro that has been used. That means you can not only get the perfect fit for your wrist, but you can adjust that fit as often and as precisely as you want throughout the day. If it starts to feel a little loose, you can easily pull it tighter.
A better fit makes for better measurements
The best results with features like wrist detection, the Taptic Engine and the electrical and optical heart rate sensors are obtained when the back of the Apple Watch makes contact with the skin. If you wear the Apple Watch properly fitted (not too tight, not too loose and with enough slack so your skin can breathe), the Watch will sit comfortably on your wrist and allow the sensors to do their job.
You may want to tighten your Apple Watch band during workouts. Then loosen it again when you're done. Also, the sensors only work when you wear the Apple Watch on top of your wrist. If the Apple Watch does not stay in place properly or if the sensors do not measure your heart rate, tighten the strap slightly. The Apple Watch should be snug but comfortable.

Maintenance of the Nike Sport Band
Keeping your Apple Watch and the band clean and dry will keep it comfortable to wear and will ensure that your Apple Watch and band will still function well in the long run. This is especially important after a workout or exposure to liquids such as sweat, soap, sunscreen and lotions that can cause skin irritations.
How do you clean the Nike Sport Loop?
It is important to take good care of your Apple Watch straps, as this will help them last as long as possible and keep them functioning properly. To clean your Nike Sport Loop strap, follow these steps:
Follow the following steps to clean the Nike Sport Loop:
- Clean the strap with a non-abrasive, lint-free cloth. Moisten the cloth lightly with clean water if necessary. You can also clean these bracelets with a mild hypoallergenic hand soap.
- Dry the bracelet with a lint-free, non-abrasive cloth before attaching it to the band of your Apple Watch.
For cleaning your other Apple Watch bands, you can find more information here: How to clean your Apple Watch band.
How do you (dis)assemble the Nike Sport Loop from your Apple Watch?
Changing your Apple Watch strap is very easy! What you need to check beforehand is whether you have the right size strap for your Apple Watch. You have two different sizes; 38mm/ 40mm/ 41mm and the 42mm/ 44mm/ 45mm/ 49mm. If you are not quite sure which size Apple Watch you have? Click here to find out which Apple Watch size you have.
Follow these three steps to change your Apple Watch strap:
- Turn your Apple Watch over that you have the back of the Apple Watch.
- Hold down the strap release button on the Apple Watch.
- Slide the band out of the slot to remove and slide the new band in. Does the band not move? Then press the unlock button again and try sliding the band out of the slot.
See the image below for a visual representation:
Never force a band into the slot of the Apple Watch. If you fail to remove or insert the Apple Watch band, press the band's release button again.
A better fit ensures better measurements
For optimal performance of your Apple Watch, it must fit snugly on your wrist. For the sling detection, tactile notifications and heart rate sensor functions to work best, the back of the Apple Watch must make good contact with the skin. When the Apple Watch is snug on your wrist, with a little slack left so that your skin can still breathe, you can do anything and the sensors will do their job properly. The Apple Watch only works when you wear it on top of your wrist!
Fake or real band?
- Original packaging > Is the original packaging included?
- Price > A strap cheaper than €20 is not realistic, as Apple often maintains its value.
- Size print > On the inside, the size is indicated on one side e.g. 40mm.
- Imprint 'Assembled in China' > Apple's connector shows 'Assembled in China'.
- Imprint on the side of the connector pin > On the side of the connector pin is a very small imprint of a code.
- Other materials and colours > Look carefully at the material of the straps that it is not plastic. See the Bandbreite app to make sure the colour is actually released by Apple.
- Neater finish > Look closely at the finish of the edges. Apple always provides a nice finish.
- Inform yourself > The more you know about the original straps, the sooner you can fish out the fake versions.
- Nike feature > On the inside of Nike sports straps, one side says "WATCH|Nike Swoosh" (note: Older straps have a "+" after the Nike Swoosh).
Tips to avoid skin irritations
No Nickel was used during the production of the Nike Sport Loop. The Nike Sport Loop is made of: woven nylon with reflective threads (aluminium-coated glass beads on PET yarn)
Tips to prevent skin irritation or hypersensitivity
Indications that it is a real Apple Band |
Indications that it is a fake Apple Band |
The velcro patches are aligned, evenly distributed and run most of the width of the band. | The velcro patches are sloppy (unevenly distributed), off-centre and/or smaller. |
All straps made from spring 2019-autumn 2021 have reflective threads that are clearly visible in sunlight or under bright directional lighting (such as a torch). A few of the 2018 straps also have reflective threads. |
There are no reflective threads on any strap. |
The band is marked with "WATCH|Nike Swoosh" branding directly below the velcro patches.
|
No "WATCH|Nike Swoosh" branding under the velcro patches. |
The loop where the strap folds over is just wide enough for the strap to pass through. There is not much extra room for the band to wiggle left and right. |
No markings for "Assembled in China" and no S/N in any of the pins.
|
The bottom of the strap at the loop end opposite the Velcro strap is marked with the watch case size (38/40/41 mm or 42/44/45 mm) in a circle near the lugs.
|
The loop where the strap folds over is too large and the strap has room to wiggle. Also, the plastic of the loop may be very thin. |
The words "Assembled in China" are marked on the edge of the tab opposite the Velcro. |
|
Some newer ones have serial numbers in one of the connectors, but the oldest ones do not. |
